The Fire Suite apps

Two apps, for two different screens: one your staff carry, one that hangs on the wall. Everything else — the rota, the timesheet, the pay week, the menus — runs in a browser, with nothing to install.

FireAttend

For your staff, on their own phones

Your team install this one. They sign in once with the details you give them — there's no sign-up, and nobody can join without you.

  • Clock in and out by tapping the shop's NFC tag or scanning its QR code
  • This week's rota and next week's, as soon as you publish it
  • The hours they've worked, counted the way their pay is
  • Tell you when they can work next week
  • A reminder half an hour before a shift, and a nudge if a shift ends while they're still clocked in
  • Face or fingerprint lock on the app, if their phone has it

Android 7.0 and up. On an iPhone, staff open app.firesuite.co.uk/attend and add it to the home screen — it works the same way and clocks in by scanning the QR. An iPhone app is next.

FireSign player

For the television above the counter

This is the app on the stick behind your screen. Install it, and it shows a six-character code — add that code in your dashboard and the screen is paired. There's nothing to sign in to on the TV itself.

  • Plays your menus, photos and videos in the order you set
  • Changes within seconds when you change them from your phone
  • Keeps playing if the internet drops, from what it already holds
  • Takes over every screen at once when you need it to

Amazon for a Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube or Fire tablet — that's the one to use on a Fire stick, because it's the only install that updates itself. Google Play for Android TV, Google TV and Android boxes. On a Samsung or LG smart TV, open the player in the TV's own browser instead.

What doesn't need an app

Everything you do as the owner or manager. The rota, the timesheet, the pay week, payslips, right-to-work documents, the menus and the screens are all a website — app.firesuite.co.uk — and it works on a laptop, a tablet or your phone. There is nothing to install and nothing to keep updated.

Once you're signed in, both apps are a click away: FireSign has a Get the app screen and FireAttend a Staff app screen, each with the store links, a short address you can send your team, and a QR code you can print and pin up in the back.

Getting your team onto it

  1. Add each person in FireAttend and send them their registration link.
  2. Print the QR from the Staff app screen and put it where they sign in.
  3. They scan it, install the app, and sign in once. After that it stays signed in.

Staff who already use the web version don't have to change. The two show the same rota and the same hours, because they're the same system.

Questions takeaway owners ask

Do my staff have to install an app?

No. FireAttend is on Google Play for Android phones, and anyone can instead open app.firesuite.co.uk/attend and add it to their home screen, which is what iPhone staff do today. Both clock in from the same tag.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. iPhone staff use the web version, added to the home screen, and clock in by scanning the shop's QR code with the camera. The iPhone app is the next one we're building.

What does the staff app hold about my staff?

Their name, their shop, their shifts and the availability they enter. Payslips, documents and pay rates are deliberately not in it — those stay on the website, behind your own login. Location is checked only at the moment of a clock-in or clock-out, and nothing is recorded at any other time.

Which app do I install on a Fire TV Stick?

The Amazon Appstore one. It's the only install that updates itself, which matters on a screen you'd otherwise have to take down and plug into a keyboard. On Android TV or a Google TV box, use Google Play.

Do the apps cost anything?

No. Both are free to download. You pay for the shop: £6 a week for FireAttend and £3 a week for FireSign, however many staff or screens you have.
